Lego Technic 8296 - 2008

Lego Technic 8296 from 2008.  Actually I've forgotten I have this set.  I was surprised when I saw it in my storage of toys.  I was like what the hell is this?  It took me a while to remember that I got this the same time as the Ferrari FXX.  Maybe I got so overwhelmed by the Ferrari that I've set this Lego set aside.  So I'll be calling this the "Forgotten Toy". Lols.  Anyway you might be wondering why the picture on the box is different from the actual built Lego?  Actually this set has a build variant for that plowing tractor.

And there you go, the second variant of this set as seen at the back of the box. This little chunk of bulky blue Lego plastic packs a lot of fun.

The two instruction manuals for the separate variants.  I got to play with the dune buggy version of this set for a while and it was fun.  It has rear suspension, steering and differential gears.  The buggy looks awesome too.  Then I disassembled it and built me the tractor for variant 2.  Then after some time I kept it in storage....until now.

Those gears at the front turn when the tractor's front wheels turn.  Oh yes we love them spinning gears all the time. Also those fat tires add a great touch to its looks too.

Rear tires are sized 56 x 26 by Lego standards.

Front tires are thinner than the rear tires.

The back plow can be extended but with support from 2 suspension arms.  The body has articulation too.  This turns the tractor left and right.

You can turn this black pinion gear to make the tractor go left or right.

Mid body gears for articulation.

Piston engine that pumps as the tractor moves.

Top view of the hood.

The hood opens so you can have a better look at the engine's pistons.  Which version would you rather play? The buggy or the tractor?
